U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) announced on May 12 that the list of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) degree programs is extended so that more foreign students on F1 Visa will be eligible for for an Optional Practical Training (OPT) extension after graudation.

The new list will include degrees in the fields of  Neuroscience, Medical Informatics, Pharmaceutics and Drug Design, Mathematics and Computer Science.

An April 2008 interim order allows students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) majors to legally work under OPT for 29 months. It is 12 months for studnets in Non-STEM majors.
