USCIS Received 35,900 Cap-Subject H1B Visa petitions in 3 weeks!

USCIS started accepting cap-subject H1B petitions on April 1, 2012. As of April 20, they received approximately 25,000 H1B Visa petitions counting toward the 65,000 cap, and approximately 10,900 petitions toward the 20,000 cap exemption for individuals with advanced U.S. degrees.

These two numbers are much higher than last year. During the first three weeks of April 2011, USCIS received only 8,000 cap subject petitions, and 5,900 petitions toward the 20,000 cap exemption.

So the good news is U.S. job market is definitely recovering, and U.S. employers are hiring foreign workers aggressively. The bad news is this year's h1b visa quota will be exhausted much earlier than last year....
