Leading mechanical design efforts for the next Gen Flow Meters. My role involves from Concepts development through the complete product development cycle. Part of GEs Global research team.
• Developed various novel concepts aimed at packaging multiple sensors into the flow meter design while ensuring its structural integrity for high pressure and temperature environment. • Developed an Ultrasound based density meter with a novel design that mitigates the risks of flow induced vibration through. Carried out successful field trials and filed two patents in India. • Developed cost effective in-house calibration system to characterize the density sensor for temperature change. This resulted in cost savings of ~$25K to the program. • Coordinated the product certification efforts and ensured product is qualified at the first attempt. • Developed a novel concept of inlet flow conditioner & Non-circular venturi for the next Gen flow meter; demonstrated the benefits with a series of experiments and filed a patent. • Led the VA/VE project aimed at reducing pressure drop in a Coriolis flow meter. Developed an investment cast design from current machined parts, achieved ~80% reduction in pressure drop. • Led the redesign of next Gen Protimeter-MMS2 for the expanded business growth of $1.5MN. Worked closely with manufacturing team in China on injection molds & production planning to bring new design into production in less than 20 months. Filed a patent on Mechanical Packaging & Industrial design.--

• Led Design & Development efforts for entry-level Roomba consumer floor cleaning robot and achieved a 36% reduction in manufacturing cost of the lowest price model (Roomba R3). • Managed the top level robot assembly in Pro-Engineer with skeleton & master model concepts. • Developed innovative Industrial design concepts and refinements applying DFM principles. • Achieved 30% enhancement in efficiency on Vacuum Fan design using CFD tools. • Evaluated all information collected through consumer user survey and came up with various “wow” features to enhance users’ experience like no-clog bushings, bin full sensor, Easy installation/removal of debris bin & brush etc., evaluated though in-house developed test beds. • Designed and developed a suspended bumper with a light touch system which keeps robot away from getting stuck under furniture or small kick spaces in the home. • Developed several Life tests and design validation fixtures. • Reduced ~20% of Chassis (plastic) weight by optimizing wall thicknesses & part geometry. • Drove cost reduction projects from initiating ideas to completion; Projects generated $750K in savings per year. • Led the design and development of Blood Mixer (Stand Alone mixing device) from progression of an innovative concept to a production build – Client Radiometer. • Led the design and development of Thermal printer with 4” paper width for Blood gas analyzer machines, eliminated few components with optimized design – Client Radiometer. • Led all tooling efforts (injection molds and sheet metal tooling’s) for Blood mixer & Thermal Printer, Supervised the production ramp-up facility built at L&T medical division, Mysore-India. • Designed and developed CEPH head attachment for an existing dental X-ray machine and new plastic skins that were designed to maintain the current m/c industrial design language. • Improved 30% of efficiency in assembly of Brushless motors with the help of innovative fixture design, executed from the client’s site – Portescap, Danaher motion group, Switzerland. • Created complex 3D solid & surface CAD models for Nissan motors in IDEAS- CAD Software.--
