Responsible for assessing student needs, goals, interests and prior academic experiences in order to guide students in the design and implementation of a successful academic plan. Collaborate with faculty members to address the academic advising needs of individuals or groups of students. I am also responsible for understanding and interpreting the RIS’s policies and academic options of all degree and certificate programs to help facilitate the student’s academic success.
I Provide academic advising to returning students, individually or in groups, about College policies, programs of study and degree options. Provide students with information about alternatives and possible consequences of academic decisions. Support career services by counseling students on career options and guiding their development of job search skills. Assist career services staff with special projects. Interpret and administer Roots International Schools policies and procedures. Work closely with the Academic Office and Student Services to connect students to academic support (e.g.tutoring). Participate in professional conferences and other self-directed professional development activities. Oversees implementation of different Schools program. (Freshmen advisees) Meet with advisee during orientation to assist student with initial adjustment to academic life. Special sessions should be scheduled throughout the first academic year. (For continuing advisees) meet at least once a week with continuing students to discuss their profile and to review/revise long range academic program schedules. Assist students in planning a program consistent with their abilities and interests. Monitor progress toward educational/career goals and meet frequently to review the progress toward completing the proposed academic program and to discuss grades and other performance indicators. Work with students on the rigorous application processes of Top Tier summer programs like Yale Young Global Scholars Program, Oxbridge Summer Academy, Oxford Royal Academy, summer @Brown, WYSE University of Illinois etc. Assist students to get into top universities in UK, USA, Canada, Germany, Australia, Malaysia, and Turkey etc. I specifically worked on Common Application, UCAS, Uniassist, and also on independent applications. Conduction of counselling sessions for students and organizing one on one meetings of students with representatives from several international universities like University of Northern Iowa, UMAS Lowell, IPEK, METU, Aston University, University of London, Cardiff University, University of Melbourne, Antalya International University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, Fairfield University, Emory University etc. Organizing and hosting Education Fairs and counselling workshops. Work on the Visa processing of students.--
