Android Lead 07/2021 - current
Floward, Dubai, Dubai United Arab Emirates
Industry: E-Commerce
Floward is a gifting platform operating across the Middle East and the UK. It is in a fast-growing phase, and I was hired to take care of the Android chapter and the Flutter team. I manage a team of 4 Android engineers for the consumer and driver app and a team of 3 Flutter engineers for an internal operations app and the interoperability project. We utilize AGILE methodologies and follow the Scrum framework.
As for my official role there, I mainly focus on revamping the apps, helping with deciding the perfect approach for new features, help with finding more mobile engineers, along with guiding and mentoring the current team aiming towards high scalability as the company moves forward. The code base is version-controlled with GitHub and is mainly written in Java and Kotlin.--
Senior Android Engineer 12/2015 - 05/2021
Talabat, Dubai, Dubai United Arab Emirates
Industry: E-Commerce
This is where I started my career as an Android engineer when the company had around 25 people on the tech team. My first and initial task was to revamp the entire app and the Android team had 2 members including myself. In around 4 months the initial draft was ready and presented internally.
Handling the entire app working close to a designer and a product owner was my biggest achievement since the growth that I was getting was exponential. In one year, I was creating the UIs, handling the business logic, doing
presentations with the stakeholders, and even implemented analytics and AB testing
for the app for the first time. I learned Kotlin and started rewriting the code base. The
company then started adapting AGILE and I was there since the initial meetings. To summarize, I learned a lot, experimented a lot, and became confident about being an Android
Lead when I left the company, and I am the highest code contributor in their codebase in
GitHub to this day!--
