Experiences:

Research Engineering and Device Development Intern (REDDI) 11/2022 - current
The Taylor Collaboration, San Francisco, California United States
Industry: Scientific and Technical Service
I serve as a research assistant at The Taylor Collaboration Orthopaedic Research Laboratory, working on different biomechanical research projects.
As an R&D engineer intern at The Taylor Collaboration, I have actively contributed to six biomechanical projects, employing engineering principles, and diverse tools. Notable projects included studying the effects of surgical impaction on roughness and material loss of 3D-printed titanium ALIF cages; investigating the impact of displacement on infratectal acetabular t-type fracture; and evaluating a novel spinolaminar locking plate construct for lumbar spine instrumentation (paper published on Spine Deformity). My tasks vary based on specific projects, often involving doing literature review, preparing test protocols, designing and making testing fixtures, conducting experiments, analyze and illustrating data, and writing manuscripts. Additionally, I attend weekly orthopedic spine conference with surgeons and residents from St. Mary Medical Center. In the summer, I mentored three high school interns, emphasizing basic anatomy and equipment operation. Proficient in SolidWorks and experienced in many biomechanical testing tools, I bring a comprehensive skill set to research and development endeavors.--
Graduate Research Assistant 08/2021 - 10/2022
Mercer University School of Engineering, Macon, Georgia United States
Industry: Academia
I worked as a graduate research assistant in Dr. Ha Van Vo's different labs at Mercer University.
In this position, I worked with Dr. Ha Van Vo of the Biomedical Engineering Department at Mercer University in his three different labs. Biomaterial lab: I contributed to a research project comparing OsteoCentric UnifiMI pedicle screws with conventional counterparts, participated in 14 mechanical tests using the MTS Bionix system, then analyzed and illustrated data in MatLab. Gait Lab: I also guided undergrad students through data collection using Noraxon Clinical EMG, Simi 2D Gait Analysis, and Tekscan F-Scan systems for their respective projects. Prosthetics Lab: Additionally, continuing the volunteer work throughout my undergraduate years, I fabricated several prosthetic components, including sockets, braces, and self-power hand parts for the MOM Vietnam program, utilizing different processes including manual machining, CNC, and thermoplastic bubble-forming techniques and played a supervising role for newcomers learning about tools and processes in the lab.--
