#Good News: DHS Strengthens H-1B Program, Allowing U.S. Employers to More Quickly Fill Critical Jobs. The new measures provide significant benefits to foreign workers, including clearer definitions of specialty occupations to align jobs with qualifications, automatic cap-gap extensions for F-1 students to prevent employment interruptions, and the ability for entrepreneurs to self-sponsor visas.

Elon Musk, who has personally benefited from the H-1B visa program, has publicly defended its importance for attracting highly skilled foreign workers to the U.S. tech industry. #One More Thing: The registration period for the FY 2026 H-1B cap will be open soon. This is the estimated important dates:

1. March 1, 2025: The registration period opens(estimated).


2. March 20, 2025: The registration period closes(estimated).


3. Late March 2025: USCIS will conduct the lottery and notify employers whose registrations have been selected.


4. April 1, 2025: The petition filing period opens for those selected in the lottery. Employers have 90 days to submit the complete H-1B petition and supporting documents.


5. June 30, 2025: Last day to submit petitions for FY 2026 under the regular lottery process.
