A total of 535,448 applications were submitted for FY2024, with 110,760 applications received in Q4 alone, reflecting a 2.1% increase compared to FY2023. Out of the 561,037 applications processed, 524,612 (93.5%) were certified, 4,458 (0.8%) were denied, and 31,967 (5.7%) were withdrawn. This resulted in the certification of 790,845 positions, out of 808,091 requested.
Geographically, employment opportunities were concentrated in states like California, Texas, and Washington, which collectively accounted for nearly half of all certified positions. California led with 23.4% (185,105 positions), followed by Texas at 14.2% (112,533 positions), and Washington at 9.5% (74,805 positions). These states underline the dominance of regions with thriving tech industries in hiring foreign talent.
In terms of occupations, software developers accounted for 32.4% (256,213 positions) of all certifications, making it the most sought-after profession. Other significant roles included computer systems engineers and architects (5.4%), information technology project managers (4.0%), and data scientists and operations research analysts, each at approximately 2.2%. These figures highlight the continued demand for specialized IT and tech roles.
Among employers, Amazon.com Services LLC was the largest contributor, responsible for 7.6% of all certifications (60,208 positions). NVIDIA Corporation and Infosys Limited also played significant roles, demonstrating the tech industry’s reliance on foreign labor.
Overall, the data underscores several key trends. Tech roles and industries continue to lead in demand, with states like California and Texas benefiting the most.
