Overview

Update(5/19/26): In fiscal year 2026, University Of Florida filed 183 LCAs for H-1B visas, 5 labor petitions for green cards, and 64 requests for prevailing wage determination.

Important Update(12/16/2025): We’ve recently added H-1B visa approval and denial history from USCIS(2017–2025) and H-1B visa petition locations to provide a more complete view of employment-based immigration. Previously, our data included only Labor Condition Applications (LCAs) certified by the U.S. Department of Labor.
For example, in fiscal year 2025, University Of Florida filed 260 Form I-129 petitions for H-1B visas. Of these, 253 were approved and 7 were denied.

University Of Florida filed 393 labor condition applications (LCAs) for H-1B visas and 18 labor certifications (LCs) for green cards during fiscal year 2025. University Of Florida was ranked number 147 among all visa sponsors. Additionally, 4 LCAs and 1 LC were denied or withdrawn during the same period.

Before University Of Florida can hire foreign workers, whether permanently or temporarily, it must submit labor certifications to the Department of Labor (DOL). These certifications confirm compliance with wage requirements for the specified job locations. The reports below summarize Labor Condition Applications (LCA) for H-1B visas and Labor Certifications (LC) for green cards filed by University Of Florida. This data represents only the number of applications submitted and does not guarantee visa approvals or worker hires.

The LCA data includes applications for various purposes: new employment, continuation or changes to previously approved employment, new concurrent employment, changes in employer, and amended petitions. Typically, only LCAs for new employment require an H-1B visa cap if the employer is not cap-exempt.For example, University Of Florida submitted 725 LCAs and LCs during fiscal year 2025. However, this figure does not necessarily reflect the number of foreign workers hired, as visa applications can be denied. Additionally, employees renewing or transferring H-1B visas or changing work locations may need to file new LCAs.

The DOL generally certifies more than three times the number of foreign worker requests compared to the H-1B visas issued by USCIS. Therefore, there is no direct correlation between the number of workers certified by the DOL and the H-1B visas issued by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

* Why are the numbers different? LCAs are a prerequisite to filing H-1B visa petitions, but not all certified LCAs lead to actual H-1B filings. Similarly, one LCA can support multiple visa petitions (e.g., for extensions, amendments, or changes in employer). Therefore, visa totals may differ significantly from LCA totals.
Moreover, employers sometimes use different names when submitting LCAs and H-1B visa petitions. This can cause discrepancies in our system. To get a complete and accurate picture, please use the search function to explore both LCA and visa data.
Total H-1B includes all types of visa petitions: new employment, continuation, change of employer, as well as other actions not listed in the table, such as concurrent filings and amendments.

My older cousin, who has a PHD from a Canadian university, and taught at several universities in Australia, Canada, England, and Scotland got sponsored by the University of Florida two years ago. He says that it has been by far the best work experience that he has ever had and has no desire to change positions. Aside from the job itself he has easily adapted to the Florida lifestyle, lie that is hard, and plans to settle down in the Sunshine State. As a Canadian with a PHD my cousin qualified for a TN visa, which only countries that are part of North American Free Trade Agreement (Canada and Mexico) can obtain. He had no trouble obtaining the visa and sine then renewing the visa has been an easy process. He has absolutely no plans to leave the University of Florida as he could not be much happier. My cousin has met several other staff members at the University of Florida who successfully obtained their employment through visa sponsorship. When it comes to visa sponsorship of foreign staff members the University of Florida seems to be quite meticulous, as he has not heard of many people who were denied their visa by US Department of State.

You are welcome to share your working, interview or application experience with University Of Florida as well as its owners or employees. Please avoid mentioning any names or using profanity and obscene languages when you are making comments.
