Objectives of the study: to estimate and identify local genetic resources and to explore the diversity and origin of Omani cattle using 11 polymorphic Microsatellite and 113 samples representing European, African and Indian ancestry for comparison with Omani cattle” Duties included:
?Developing a research protocol and following laboratory SOP’s.
?Analysis of samples of Omani cattle samples using several molecular biology techniques such as; DNA extraction and amplification, PCR, fragment analysis, gel electrophoresis, genotyping and RFLP.
?Analysis, recording and interpretation of data using genetic analyzer sequencer machine, sequence alignment and nucleotide analysis using standard bioinformatics packages.
?Conducting literature reviews.
?Preparing progress reports for the PI (principal investigator).
?Familiarity of using different search engines e.g. PUBMED/MEDLINE, MEDSCAPE, EBSCO and EMBASE. Objectives of the study: to examine the genetic characteristics of drug resistant P.falciparum haplotypes in Eastern and Central Sudan to establish whether drug resistance has evolved independently or through migration of a common haplotype. Duties included:
