They have come under scrutiny for various civil rights violations including:
1) inability to provide requested medical records
2) refusal to allow advocates entry to meetings with mutual clients and with the client's permission
3) inability to provide lab tests to ensure physical well-being which may be at risk due to the ingestion of prescribed psychotropic medications
4) inability to at times provide prescribed psychotropic medications
5) inability to take complaints as enunciated in their policies and procedures in order to be complaint with state and federal law

Ranked by the Department of State Health Services (DSHS) as the 5th worst performing Local Mental Health Agency in 2012. This is appalling considering Austin Travis County is a fairly small geographic area with plenty of resources and ability for clients to access care. Austin Travis County is not a Rural or Frontier community and to perform so poorly, with it's tremendous resources, is appalling to consumers and taxpayers alike.
